Spanish Language Courses in Costa Rica

is located in the center of San José, near the university campus. At the students’ disposal are a library, cafeteria, room to relax, modern audiovisual equipment. The teaching staff is highly qualified by university degrees and is experienced in teaching foreign languages. The school’s director is European and holds an interpreter and translator degree of a German university.

Living with a Costa Rican family not only offers you the opportunity to get to know the country and the locals better but will also allow you to practice Spanish more frequently. The host families are selected with great care to assure you of a comfortable and pleasant homestay. The accommodations consist of a single room; two meals per day and laundry service are provided. If you prefer to stay in a hotel or apartment, we will be happy to help you with the reservation.

Students are tested on the first day, then small groups are formed according to the level of language experience. The teaching method is based on extensive experience combined with modern techniques. Emphasis is put on the very personalized attention on every student’s individual progress. Classes are scheduled Monday through Friday and consist of 4 or 6 one hour lessons per day, depending on the chosen program. The courses include grammatical structures, vocabulary expansion, reading and listening exercises, conversation, dynamic roll plays and working with modern audiovisual materials.

Cultural events may be: Latin American Dance Lessons, local special events, cooking class „typical Costa Rican cuisine", visits to private and public institutions.

A completed application and a 10% deposit, at least however US $ 50, must be received by Tierra Verde to confirm the reservation. Payment of balance is made in full 30 days before the beginning of the course.

Cancellation: A course can be cancelled in written form before the starting of the course. Important for the cancellation date is the date of receipt by Aventuras Tierre Verde, Ciudad Colón/Costa Rica. The deposit is refundable, except for an administration fee of US $ 30, if a cancellation is received up to 45 days prior to the course’s start. There is a cancellation fee of 25 % of the course fee with a cancellation within 30 days before the course’s start. There are no refunds when a course is cancelled on the day of the course’s beginning or when a student cancels during the course.

Students should arrive on the Sunday before their program starts and also plan to leave on the Saturday after it finishes. Each additional day of lodging is charged with US $ 15.

The Institute respects national holidays and will be closed on the following days: 1 st of January; 11 th of April; 13th and 14 th of April; 1 st of May; 25 th of July; 15 th of August; 15 th of September; 25 th of December.
