The Talamanca is part of the biosphere La Amistad Caribe and difficult to access. A good starting point to enter the rainforests of the Talamanca is the Selva Bananito Lodge:

Selva Bananito Lodge is located at the foot of Cerro Mochila, belonging to the Matama mountain range, which is part of the Cordillera de Talamanca. Manú, the farm on which the lodge is built, partly borders La Amistad National Park. About two thirds (approx. 2,000 acres) are primary highland rain forest, protected as a private preserve. One third of the farm is devoted to low-impact agriculture and cattle management.
