This 34,595 acres national park is a volcanic
massif of which the burnt-out Santa Maria (6,255 ft.) and
the gently active Rincón de la Vieja (6,220 ft.) that
last erupted in November 1995, are the highest volcanoes.
Experience the fascinating fauna and flora that changes from
wet and dry to cloud forest; geysers, boiling mud pools, fumaroles
and hot sulfur springs will take you into the magic world
of Rincón de la Vieja!

your city hotel in San José and transfer northbound on the

mountain lodge at the foot of the volcano hills. ON Hacienda Guachipelin***
Day 2
Kazm
CañonCanopy Tour
Today you start your first adventure: an exciting tour "flying"
through the Kazm Cañon that has several platforms and
traverse cables suspended inside.
The tour itself starts from a boardwalk built along the edge
of the cliff walls and includes 3 boardwalks, 10 platforms,
a "Tarzan Swing", several wall climbs and 5 traverses. You
will slide off the diving board and into the great abyss of
the Rio Blanco, a tributary of the Rio Colorado Canyon.
The afternoon is
at your disposal: Relax at the lodge's swimming pool or visit
the nearby National Park for optional excursions. ON Hacienda Guachipelin***
Day 3
Hike to the Crater
Ascent to
Rincón de la Vieja's crater (about 6 hours); 3,940
ft. of height are to be covered. The highlight of this strenuous
full day hike is not the crater itself but the different life
zones resulting from the changes in altitude that we cross.
On our way we will have a picnic lunch.
ON Hacienda Guachipelin***

ride back to San José or to your next destination.
