The Centro Neotropico Sarapiquis, built in the style of a pre-Colombian, indigenous village, is located on the main road between La Virgen and Puerto Viejo de Sarapiqui amidst tropical gardens at the Río Sarapiquí.
Three of four conical Palenque style buildings which are covered by palm tree leafs, include 8 spacious and comfortable guest rooms each. The rooms are tastefully decorated in a harmonious array of earth tones, natural Laja stone and antique or artisan made furniture. La Selva Biological Station, located about 3km south of Puerto Viejo de Sarapiquí, offers besides guided hikes through the private reserve La Selva, which is attached to the Station, also simple accommodation either in shared bedrooms with shared bathroom or in 6 extra cabins (built in 2003) which all feature private bathroom, ceiling fan, desk and balcony. Breakfast, lunch and dinner is served at the cafeteria of the Station at pre-assigned times.

The Laguna del Lagarto Lodge is situated in a 1,200 acres private rain forest reserve in the north of the country (Boca Tapada) near to the Nicaraguan border, built in harmony with the surrounding nature. Just a few years ago, the trip to this beautiful place would have meant an expedition of several days. Today, it is can be reached by a 4x4 car in 3 to 4 hours from San José. The lodge features 19 simple rooms with two single beds, private bathroom, hot water and ceiling fans, an open terrace restaurant serving hearty, typical Costa Rican meals, a butterfly garden and more than 10 miles of jungle trails. The usage of the canoes, as well as a rainforest hike is included in the room rate. After sunset there is the opportunity to observe the feeding of the caimans that are living in the lagoon. The „Pedacito de Cielo Lodge“ („A Piece of Heaven“) is located near the border of the 300 hectares rainforest area of the biological corridor San Juan, near the Nicaraguan border at the river Rio San Carlos. The fauna is enormous, several kinds of reptiles and amphibians (frogs, basilisks, alligators etc.) and a big quantity of tropical birds. This area is the main district for nestling of the extinction Green Macaw.

The hotel Fonda Vela is situated on beautiful, quiet grounds close to Monteverde Reserve, about halfway between the village of Sta. Elena and the reserve. The hotel offers 40 rooms distributed over several buildings. La Carolina Lodge is a rustic guesthouse on the eastern slopes of Volcano Tenorio, located in a less traveled region of northwestern Costa Rica, amidst sunny jungles and volcanic mountains. The lodge sits on 170 acres, nestled in rainforest and fed by a freshwater river. Carolina lodge is also a full-time cattle ranch and farm.
The lodge overlooks a fresh water river and lush tropical forest. For sunbathing and swimming there is a wooden deck built over a natural, crescent pool fed by a river. A deep shaded porch, with rocking chairs and hammocks, wraps around the lodge - a quiet place to cool off, nap, read and relax while watching the river flow. The lodge sleeps 12 guests comfortably, with two bathrooms and piping hot showers.

The Heliconias Lodge is located at the border of Bijagua, at the run outs of Volcano Tenorio and has its own private park, just beside the National Park. The 6 rustic rooms have private bathroom with hot water and offer space for 24 guests. They offer several day tours in the neighborhood, for example to Rio Celeste.
