Required documents: 1. Valid, national drivers license (drivers license of your home country; you will have to present the original license, copies are not accepted!)

Valid passport (with valid tourist VISA, meaning that your stay in Costa Rica must not exceed 90 days)
3. International Credit Card for the security deposit. The following credit cards are accepted: VISA, AMEX, MasterCard and Diners Club.(Debit Cards, Travelers Checks or Cash NOT accepted for the security deposit.)
Security Deposit: When receiving the car, a security deposit has to be made by international credit card, which will be refunded when returning the car undamaged.
Insurances:
The basic insurance is mandatory and includes a deductible.
Additional insurance is available at an extra cost and can be purchased upon delivery of the rental car. Detailed information regarding the insurance options upon request: travelplanner@tierra-verde.com
Additional drivers: Must be included in the contract, surcharge between $2 and $5 per day, depending on the rental car company.
At present several phone companies from the US, Canada, Great Britain and many other countries do have roaming contracts with the local telephone provider ICE. If you have closed a contract with one of the providers mentioned below and if your cell phone has the specifications (bandwidth) specified in the table below, your phone will also work in Costa Rica. Please ask your local provider for further details such as conditions and rates.

Mobile Phone Rental
In case you do not want to bring your cell phone or it does not work in Costa Rica, we will be more than happy to rent a cell phone for you from the rental car companies together with your rental car. However, please note that a formal reservation for the cell phone needs to be made well in advance (subject to availability). Furthermore, an additional security deposit via credit card will be required. The rental car companies do have different conditions regarding the costs for making and receiving phone calls. Please do not hesitate to ask us and we will be happy to provide the respective information.
Charges for pick up and drop off outside of the Metropolitan Area. Charges are valid for Pick up OR Drop Off (One Way).
Example:
If you pick up the rental car in San Jose, the drop off in Manuel Antonio is free of charge. However, in case the vehicle is not picked up in San Jose, but at another location outside of the Metropolitan Area, there might be a surcharge.
